The final (almost) countdown!

…Countdown to our album release AND the end of 2009! The band spent almost 10 hours in the studio yesterday mixing our final 8 tunes for the album. For those of you like me who are new to this process, mixing is where we bring each part (bass, vocals, etc) to the volume level we want in each track. It can even be adjusted by note or by line – it’s awesome – to bring the right “mix.” Next step is engineering, which I’m looking forward to learning about. We’re also figuring out which tracks we’ll actually put on the album, what the cover art should look like (Garfunkel or Monet?), what to name it, etc.

But let me just say that I am so pleased with how the songs are turning out. I get to work with such fantastic musicians, and Dennis at Falcon Studios (plug!) has been great. While there is amazing technology to make everything “perfect,” more often than not we’ve opted for organic, which I like. I can’t wait for you all to hear it! I’ll be posting teaser clips soon… stay tuned!

So I’m interested to hear, what do you think are the most memorable or are your favorite (not necessarily the same thing!) albums for cover art? What do you like about them?
